How are your shows looking and how’s the lighting? If you’re not sure you should check, because now you are the star of your show and the better you light it, the more money you will make.
But I already have a good phone or an external webcam, isn’t that enough?
Most of the time, yes. But if you also improve the lighting you will achieve two things:
- Showing your fans a glowing star, your best self.
- Creating an attractive ambience.
This may seem complicated and expensive but it’s not. Below we’ve explained all the steps you have to take and we’ve provided you with a list of recommended devices that you can use.
FRONT LIGHTING
The most important thing is to illuminate your face well. This seems logical, but we often take it for granted and this is where the problems begin.
For example, when we enter a room and turn on the main light, we see the whole room well lit. Then we sit down in front of our computer and turn on the cam. In this case, the overhead light will be shining on our backs and our faces will be shadowed. So you should put a light source in front of your face.
Is a lamp you have around the house a possible solution? The simple answer is yes. But be careful, because your camera will be right in front of your face and if you have to put the lamp to the side it will create shadows on your face that can make you look less attractive and older.
The way to avoid this is to put a second lamp on the other side of the camera. This way you will have both sides of the face equally illuminated.
Do two lamps have to be the same? No, they don’t. There can be the main light and a slightly dimmer fill light. Give it a try and if you like the result, this could be the perfect solution.
LIGHT RINGS
Light rings are these ring-shaped lamps that are so fashionable. Here are their advantages:
1 – They provide direct and homogeneous lighting that does not produce shadows, so you don’t need a fill light.
2 – They take up little space.
3 – You can attach your phone or webcam to the inside of the ring.

BACKGROUND LIGHTING
With this additional lighting, you will achieve two things:
- Highlight your gorgeous figure.
- Give your space a special glow.
The simple way to achieve this is to project light onto the back wall. You can use another lamp or a flexo, but nowadays there are many devices that will also give your room a modern and fun touch.

BACKLIGHTING
Last but not least is this final touch that will give you a super professional finish: backlighting.
A backlight is a light falling on your shoulders and on your head from behind.

You only need another spotlight with a high tripod that allows you to place the light source above your head. This light should be placed to the side and out of view.
