World Otaku Day | December 15th

At Amateur.tv we’re celebrating World Otaku Day, which falls in the midst of the Christmas consumer frenzy to put all its fans in a dilemma: Do I spend the money on a perfume for my mother? Or on another Sailor Moon figurine?

And if there is one thing that all Otaku around the world share, it is an expensive hobby that is based on an endless ocean of merchandising, memorabilia and paraphernalia: comics, video games, figurines, costumes, DVDs… you name it!

The Japanese, the country from which this culture originates, are astute merchants who have managed to monetize this hobby among their own people and the rest of the world to the point of creating a billion-dollar industry.

The Otaku universe has very recognizable aesthetic codes based on the comic manga with a range that goes from the most infantile line of the Kawaii characters to the most sexualized of the Hentai.

Ariannasex poses as a kinky schoolgirl along with her collection of kawaii plushies.

And this is where manga and sex merge to create a new pornographic genre. Hentai proposes a visual universe where everything is possible: the most hypertrophied bodies and the most aberrant acts, all sprinkled with the typical innocence that manga gives to the faces of its characters, and that offers an extra perversion overall.

Of course, all this is transferable to the real world, where thousands of cosplayers are not resigned to the fact that this aesthetic remains within the limits of the paper or the screen. And they are willing to spend a lot of money to become those characters that live in their fantasies and in those of many other people with the same tastes.

AmbarEvanss is probably the webcammer who takes hentai aesthetics the furthest in her live shows on Amateur.tv

And where there are Otakus, there is business. That’s why many webcam models specialize in this aesthetic, knowing that they can attract legions of fans who are always willing to spend good money to make their fantasies come true.

At Amateur.tv we’re celebrating World Otaku Day by recognizing the work of some of these webcammers. And reminding you that in July we always launch a cosplay-themed campaign during the San Francisco Comic Con.
